Transformative Listening

Deep Dive

Summer 2025

Program Details

This is an advanced leadership group for transformative listeners.

We will meet every Monday from June 16th to July 21st at 12 pm ET (9 am PT). Podcasts and articles will be available on our private page, along with class recordings, every week. You can submit your reflections on the case study to receive feedback every Friday.

This group focuses on finding a “third way” to engage as an inclusive leader. We cover supportive concepts and work with fictional case studies. Your reflection on each study will imagine an effective solution into being. You will be supporting the creation of a transformative justice model by finding solutions in your own experience.

All meetings are virtual on Mondays. All readings and podcasts are optional. All reflections that you wish to receive feedback on can be submitted weekly. Please scroll down to see the topic of each week.

LESSON 1

Leading through Stillness

We’ll discuss the benefits that a still, compassionate, and stable perspective offers in challenging times.

LESSON 2

What rattles me?

We’ll focus on topics that activate something in us and take us away from a sense of calm. This week’s focus will help you create more distance between you and the challenge that you’re trying to solve. You’ll feel more confident and see more options for change.

LESSON 3

When does blame feel like a solution?

In a relational model of leadership, there is never just one thing that’s the problem. Everything is connected somehow, so we get more traction when we focus on relationships between factors rather than isolate one issue. The more space we have between reaction and response, the more likely we are to see connections. This week’s focus will help you spot when people typically move toward blame and how to redirect them.

LESSON 4

What does beyond right and wrong even look like?

Most solutions to problems are conceived of in a framework of right or wrong. 1 + 1 = 2. Anything other than 2 is wrong. People who answer 2 are right. But, human interaction and collaboration is much more complex and, the pressure to get something right often prevents us from feeling comfortable enough to truly be ourselves. In this type of environment, there is less trust and no room to mess up. This week, we’ll start to imagine through examples stories what a third way might look like.

LESSON 5

What “third ways” are in your power to create?

Building on what we discuss the previous week, we’ll elaborate this week on the specific “third ways” that you want to create in your own work.

LESSON 6

What next?

We will conclude with reflections on how we can continue to encourage a relational and relaxed way of engaging in order to create transformative and collaborative cultures.
