Our Story

A note from our founder.

I began Sagely in 2017 as a small consulting firm focused on helping organizations tell their stories. My first project was about an event here in Philadelphia designed to bring a racially and religiously diverse community together through food and art.

At the time, I had over a decade of experience teaching and had researched and written on social justice movements and storytelling as part of my doctoral study. My interests had also led me to study trauma from a neurobiological perspective and the variety of methods we can use to heal from its impact. This includes meditation, somatic practices, EMDR, and more.

I was learning to connect my career experiences with my intellectual interests, all the while working through the very personal experiences of healing through injury, parenting a small child, and losing my father to cancer.

Slowly, as more and more clients came to me, I realized that this was an opportunity for integration. I could combine my academic interests, my personal experiences, and my network of amazing contacts to create a truly successful approach to DEIB work.

Sagely’s approach is fundamentally one of interconnectedness. The more we see the connections in our own life, the more we open up space to connect with others. This interconnectedness is the basis of effective culture change.

I built a team of academics, certified coaches, and mental health professionals so that we could offer accurate information about inequalities, biases, and their history alongside an intentionally human, hopeful, and kind approach to healing and change.

This is what makes Sagely unique and why working with us is truly transformational. It’s also why I feel incredibly lucky that this is what I get to do for a living.
